A Life Aloft

Andy was a supremely talented and capable hot air balloon pilot and we're confident his contributions to the lighter-than-air community will leave a lasting legacy.

Andy owned and operated Bloomington Balloon Rides, a commercial hot air balloon ride company in Indiana, and Adams Balloons, a hot air balloon manufacturing company.

Below are some video and photograph highlights of his career.

This page will be updated as the full impact of his life and legacy unfolds.

Marty Kelsey, of the Smithsonian’s National Air and Space Museum and the host of STEM in 30, interviewed Andy. Andy and Adams Balloons were then featured in a series of videos produced by the Smithsonian’s educational channel.

Andy built the centerpiece of artist Doug Aitken's exhibit NEW HORIZON, a mirrored balloon, in 2019.

This magnificent balloon was flown at events across Massachusetts for The Trustees of Reservations.
